Blue State company website

The Product: Agency website with SVG motion graphics, scroll-based animated CSS, and SaaS integrations

The Challenge:

Blue State is a digital agency that caters to nonprofits and NGOs, and needed an update to their company site that showcased their expertise in that area, as well as showcasing their award-winning interactive design, and which generated leads for future business. They had an existing WordPress-based site that relied on a lot of plugins and had generated quite a bit of technical debt. Their previous site also did not do a good job of foregrounding their award-winning design team’s aesthetic and skills.
I led development on this project both as tech lead and as the primary individual contributor. I created all the animations and motion in coordination with a design director (we sat together during the design phase so I could proof-of-concept her ideas) and implemented the final versions seen here. I wrote custom integrations with the WordPress API (for example, the filtering in the news and case study archive pages) using vanilla Javascript and PHP. I also integrated the site with Greenhouse, Hubspot and other third-party APIs.
